'Eucalyptus' | Robyn Beeston
18cm W x 42cm H
White timber frame
Eucalyptus - She had spent so long staring at these; leaves, flowers, stems. How they joined the branches, how to paint the stamens.
Each time she tried to capture those stamens she had a different outcome.
They are so tiny, so many, so layered it is impossible for her brain to record them all. But she tries, drawn to the perfection, the colour and shape, that they exist at all.
Note - There were louvres, past their best-before-date in my house. So, I made this. The glass is old but is not past its usefulness. It may have small scratches and marks but is clean and still of value, like us all as we age.
About Robyn: The story telling artist.
I am a maker; I get restless if I don't make something and I believe, someone, somewhere is making everything, so why can't l
I didn't do art at school; didn't believe I had that talent. I learned this story was not true in the early 1990's and have been creating art ever since.
In 2019I started a 100-day project which took my art practice to a new level of discipline and meant I had to show up every day with purpose. I enjoy humble subjects, simple items and things from our homes, and the world. In 2020 I started telling the story. In 2023 there came a book. My passion is storytelling through words and images.
