Mighty Macintyre Goondiwindi Art Print (49cm x 30cm) | Catherine Baudet
About Catherine - As an architect, creativity has always been at the heart of my work. Architecture is a deeply rewarding profession, but it’s also all-consuming. For years, I felt a growing urge to create something personal—something artistic, outside the confines of building codes and client briefs.
Then, in February 2020, everything changed. As the world slowed down during the Covid lockdowns, I suddenly found myself with time—an unfamiliar and slightly uncomfortable luxury after years of nonstop work. To fill the stillness, I turned to painting. I found comfort in creating intricate, detailed artwork, not unlike the precision drawings I once did as an architect.
The Macintyre River, which frames the town of Goondiwindi and forms part of the border between Queensland and New South Wales, is a landscape of quiet beauty and constant movement. Its green waters mirror the surrounding eucalyptus trees, where leaves and branches filter the sunlight into ever-changing patterns of light and shade.
This painting explores the interplay between reflection, colour and movement. The shimmering surface of the river echoes the vitality of the dense tree canopy above, while the calm, deep waters provide a sense of balance and stillness. Together, these elements capture the enduring character of the Australian landscape-both vibrant and contemplative.
The print is a Giclee print on 100% cotton fine art paper 300gsm in archival pigment ink.
